Friday Fifteenth - five hot guys

G'day Blog! It was the last day of university for me today. Whoo, three weeks off for Easter! I only went in for a lecture and a tutorial. So on the plus side, I got 63% on the essay, on the negative the lecture was in fact mostly pointless. On the other plus side, I signed up for a field trip in a months time to an old theatre. Excited already!

My boyfriend's friend has just turned up therefore this post will be getting cut short. Let's do another random day, shall we? Day 23: list five famous guys you find attractive. Easy peasy!

  1. David Tennant
  2. David Boreanaz
  3. Cory Monteith
  4. Robert Downey Jr.
  5. Michael Weatherly
See you tomorrow!

Thursday Fourteenth - 6 facts

Today has been a boring day, as I did not have to go onto campus at all today! Yay!

So instead of talking to you about my day, which was really quite boring and normal, I am going to do a random '30 days' day: Write 6 interesting facts about yourself. So, here goes.

  1. I have only recently become a certified nerd. I have been an avid reader of Harry Potter since my eleventh birthday and fan of Doctor Who since 2005 but it has only been in the last few years that I have gained the confidence to be who I am. I also like Red Dwarf, Pokemon, YA books and a few other not-so-nerdy type things like the Morganville series and Glee.
  2. I have a Gothic mind set. Graveyard poetry appeals to me. I adore dark romance, gothic architecture, I am ridiculously open-minded, I'm drawn to Wicca etc. I don't think you have to dress all in black lace and purple ribbon (even though I love that clothing) or to like all the post-punk goth music to be Goth. That said, I hate labels and will not label myself as a Goth, especially since I don't look like one.
  3. In spite of this, I am a giggly and hugging type of person.
  4. I have an idiot for a boyfriend. No real need for an explanation. But I do still love him.
  5. I feel more at home writing than I do talking some times. With writing, I have a chance to stop and think about what I want to have floating on the page. With talking, my mouth runs ahead of my head and I end up making a fool of myself. Which, not so surprisingly, happens quite often.
  6. I love watching crime drama but I can't read it. Totally addicted to NCIS and Bones but for the life of me, I cannot read crime novels. My parents love them, so they are always around the house. Maybe I'll try again over the summer...
So, that was fun! It actually took me way longer to think of those, which probably shows how limited the interesting is in my life. Oh well. See you tomorrow!

Wednesday Thirteenth - numerous fails

I am extremely tired. It's been one of those days where nothing seems to go right and it makes you think that you shouldn't have bothered getting out of bed in the morning. In summary, I had a lecture and two seminars today. The lecture wasn't that bad, just a little boring as I have minimal interest in the play we are studying. I snuck out the back early for a tutorial to get an essay back. I shouldn't have bothered. My tutor didn't have my essay, another tutor has probably got it in his lot of essays. Fail number one.

Fail number two was getting a chicken caesar wrap with bacon in it. I hate bacon. It tasted disgusting. On the plus side, I did also get a bag of giant chocolate buttons. Yummy.

I then had a seminar. In those two hours, all we did was discuss the six units we have already studied. Fail number three.

Last seminar of the day was only an hour long but it didn't finish until 6. Four of us, including me, turned up. It was a complete waste of time, hardly anyone talked, our tutor refused to let us go early. Fail number four.

Universal fail was the weather, as it has been raining all afternoon. This, along with the bitterly cold wind, has not helped my mood.

It has not been the best of days and I am incredibly glad I am home now and can go to bed. Good night.

Tuesday Twelfth - do you know what feedback is?

Hello there Blog. I am sat on the bed, eating apple crumble and custard, so you will have to excuse for a minute.

*five minutes later*

Still here? Awesome. Ok, today's blog is going to be about the lecture I had this afternoon. As my history seminar was cancelled because my tutor is in Rome (how dare she!), I had a late start and was only on campus for an hour. That hour was spent being lectured about feedback. Yes, feedback, you know the comments on a marked essay. Apparently, we all needed to be told to read and actually take on board the comments our tutors give us. Well, duh! But that wasn't enough. The lecturer this afternoon talked to us like we were five and completely stupid. I mean, I know some people don't, or at least appear not to, take the tutor's advice but usually, it's because we can't read their bloody handwriting! Seriously, you teach English! Surely you should be able to write it legibly! You let me know if I'm expecting too much!

In some respects, it was good that the lecturer treated us like idiots, because a lot of us (or them, I try not to associate myself with them) are a little thick to not write essays properly in the first place. At the beginning, she gave us some objectives and they all trickled down to this: to improve essay writing and knowledge. No sh*t, Sherlock! What else could we possibly expect from a lecture entitled "Using feedback to improve your essays"?

One comment she said reminded me of A-level when I studied psychology. She said it was difficult for a person to change their minds. Well, in psychology, we learned that was because people are stupid and stubborn. Yeah, I mean people, not a person - you know, like at the beginning of Men in Black.

One last thing she taught us was a phrase circulating between our university's tutors. If a quote has not been explained and just left hanging, it is called 'a dead kitten'. Yeah, don't really know why. But she tried the guilt trip: "If you leave a quotation hanging in your essay, you just killed a kitten." Well thanks for that!

OK, guys, this has been all for today. I'm feeling in the mood for Ice Age 3 so I'll see you tomorrow!

Monday Eleventh - online stuff

Another Monday and for once, I actually had to go onto campus. This means I am extremely confused as to what day it is and I feel like my weekend has been shortened. Anyway, I went in today for a lecture type thing about next year's modules. Almost a waste of time and money, as most of the information was already on the university website, but ats least it has confirmed my choices.

In another news... actually, I don't have another news. *stares at flashing cursor for 5 minutes*

Let's try a list, shall we?

Favourite things to do online (in no particular order):

  1. Facebook
  2. Blogger
  3. Polyvore
  4. YouTube
  5. Minecraft
  6. Fanfiction
  7. Leaky Cauldron
  8. BBC iplayer
  9. Doctor Who website
  10. Gaia

Now, I must go as my boyfriend's family and I are going to sit down and watch HP and the Deathly Hallows part one. See you tomorrow!

Sunday Tenth - Frankie

Hello, hello! It is currently 4 o'clock over in good ol' England and I have spent the day doing practically nothing. Really, the most productive thing I've done today is walk over to my boyfriend's house.

So... what to write about today? Well, my family have gone on holiday this week, leaving me behind as I still have a week of university left. So, I have essentially moved in with my boyfriend for the week.

Oh, I know a fun little topic I can blabber on about. We have a motorcaravan. We have had a motorcaravan for the last ten years. An interesting little fact about my family life ... kind of. Well, it is for me, especially to see my friend's reactions when I tell them. Some are interested, as it is a little bit weird to have a motorcaravan - a caravan, sure. Or to stay in a hotel or a tent. Most are surprised, but this is usually because I introduce our motorcaravan by name: Frankie. Some reactions include: "Oh, I thought you had a new family member!" and "That is really weird, to name it." Well, that is due to it's brand name, Frankia. We are a very loving family to name our vehicles. Or, at least, that's what we tell ourselves.

Anyway! Before I freak anyone out even more with my family's ... different sense of humour, I think I will sign off now. But before I go, I would like to know about my readers' holiday experiences: hotel? tent? caravan? chalet?

See you tomorrow!

Saturday Ninth - Lear

Good evening. I am tired. It's been a long day so this post will be short and lazy.

Last night I slept over my boyfriend's. It was fun but it made this morning feel like Sunday. I had a lazy morning, in which I read more of The Host. I went home to have lunch and get changed. Mum and I walked round the train station and caught a train to Bath. We did some shopping and met my grandmother and my cousin before going to the theatre.

(And here is where I grow too lazy for full sentences)

King Lear:
  • had no expections as didn't know what it was about
  • Derek Jacobi played the King - amazing actor
  • second half kind of scared me - eyes being cut out on stage can do that to a girl
  • overall, really impressed
  • didn't think I would like it but I am extremely glad I saw it now
And now I am going to watch Bones. Good night.
